homeworkhelpThanks for your interest in volunteering your time and talent!

There are many different and important ways that you can get involved with Schola Artium. Whether you are interested in helping with fine arts instruction, or want to help with tutoring and homework, we will work with you to find an opportunity that matches your talents and interests.

Private & Group Lessons Instructors

Schola Artium is currently seeking volunteers to provide after-school instrumental music lessons to our students.  Private Instructors are paired with several individual students at the beginning of the school year/semester and provide weekly private lessons, focusing on developing the musical and technical skills of their students.  Group Lessons Instructors teach particular skills in larger ensemble settings (Music Theory, Orchestra, etc.), with up to 15 students in a class.

Both Private Instructors & Group Instructors must complete an interview and demonstrate their teaching skills prior to their participation.  Those wishing to volunteer as Group Instructors must demonstrate particular skills and competencies in the area(s) in which they would like to teach.  Once accepted, Instructors commit to one 3-hour shift per week for one 9-month school year.

Volunteer Tutors

Schola Artium is always seeking volunteers tutors to assist in our after-school program. Volunteers assist students with their homework, provide additional academic help when necessary, and play games with students upon completion of their homework. They help provide a safe learning environment for our participants, and build relationships with the students they serve.

Tutors complete an interview and training session prior to their participation. Once completed, volunteer tutors commit to one 3-hour shift per week for one 5-month semester.

Become a Schola Artium volunteer! Here’s how:

  1. Complete the volunteer application.  Return to Clare at cfirn@scholaartium.org.
  2. Sign up for an interview.  The next round of interviews will be held September 3-13, 2013.  Email Stephanie at skirwan@scholaartium.org to schedule your session.
  3. Get invited to training.  After your interview, you may be invited to continue training if Schola Artium seems like the right fit for you.
  4. Attend training.  Attending one training session is mandatory and required to be eligible to volunteer with Schola Artium.  The next training sessions will be held the week of Monday, September 9.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

Can’t make the after-school volunteer time commitment, but have time and talents to share?  Some other volunteer opportunities may be available to you.  Email Clare at cfirn@scholaartium.org for more information.
